Obituary for Judith Anne Bartz

In loving memory of Judith Anne Bartz, dear mother of Kelly Anne Navarro (nee Bartz), adoring mother-in-law of David, and devoted grandmother to David and Nicholas. Judy died after a brief but terminal illness, surrounded by friends and family.
Born in Jefferson Iowa, she moved to Milwaukee WI and attended Pulaski High School, where she graduated at the top of her class. She married Dennis Bartz and raised Kelly in Hales Corners. She was great fun, had many friends, was always smiling, and especially loved the 4th of July. She loved to golf, taught the neighborhood kids to ski , and was a loyal member of the Alpine Valley Ski Patrol. She worked her way through nursing school as a paramedic and midnight shift ambulance driver, then cared for others at the VA hospital with humor, compassion, and nerves of steel. Judy bravely overcame addiction to lead a life full of love and adventures.
After retiring, she moved to Riverside, Illinois to help raise her grandchildren who loved her very much and she became part of the Navarro family. She wintered in Mexico and settled in the small village of Troncones where her spirit flourished. She found true peace in her beloved Troncones in the lime green house with the red gate on the Clinic Road. The locals considered her one of their own, and her adopted family surrounded with her with joy and love.
Judy was a magnet for dogs and could never turn away them away. She was most happy when surrounded by her loyal companions Buddy and Rito. She was preceded in death by other members of her pack: Duke, Ben, Schnitzel, Mackey, and Joe the cat, and they are waiting for her over the rainbow bridge.
Judy was book smart, kind, selfless and funny. She was a voracious reader, traveler, and free spirit who loved unconditionally. She appreciated beauty but was never concerned with material things and was content with what she had, anywhere that happened to be. She lived out her days in her paradise by the ocean.
Private memorial services will be held at St. Mary Parish in Riverside IL and in Troncones, Mexico.
